CLARITY
"Clarity" refers to the number and size of the natural inclusions that occur in most diamonds. Many of these clarity characteristics are microscopic and do not affect a diamond's appearance. Diamond clarity ranges from FL (flawless) to I3 (heavily included) but Reeds Jewelers's experts only source stones rated SI2 or better.
  • FL-IF: No internal inclusions or external surface blemishes – a very rare diamond
  • VVS1-VVS2: Very difficult to see inclusions under 10x magnification – an excellent quality diamond
  • VS1-VS2: Inclusions are visible under 10x magnification
  • SI1-SI2: Inclusions are not typically visible to the unaided eye
